In December of 2008, planning began for Freedom Christian Academy. The school's name was also taken from the verse in Galatians 5:13, “For you were called to freedom brethren; through love serve one another.” An advisory council of ten believers from local churches was commissioned to give direction and advice to the school leadership and to construct bylaws for governance. Affiliation with ACSI came shortly thereafter, and all stakeholders were committed to accreditation. Mount Carmel Church in Fayetteville provided temporary housing to the new school. For the first two years, FCA was located on Owen Drive. The school grew from 100 to 200 students and from 12 to 22 teachers/staff. In December 2010, the school began to seek permanent housing. Friends and investors raised the money to purchase the Technimark Building at 3130 Gillespie Street (the current home of Freedom Christian Academy).
Today, FCA has over 625 students and includes a Preschool program and international program. Technology was integrated throughout the building, and every classroom is now equipped with 75-inch Clear Touch interactive panels. Each grade level in Lower School and each academic discipline in Upper School has its own cart of laptops available to create opportunities for 21st century learning. Freedom Courts, which contains a coffee shop and a four-court athletic facility, opens opportunities for our Freedom community and for outside use.
